When2Travel pilot

We are trialling a new busy bus forecasting tool, 'When2Travel', on our app and via the link below. It uses historic data on passenger numbers to predict which buses may be quieter and which may be busier. The tool helps you to plan your journeys for quieter times, and helps with social distancing to keep everyone safe during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We would like to get your feedback on how it works for you. Your feedback will be invaluable to help us decide if we continue to make this tool available for passengers to use.

You can find the forecasting tool on our app, in the info section, under 'busy bus checker' or click here.

If you are interested please click on this link to find out more and take part in the survey.

How busy is my bus website tool

We also have another tool available on our website that works slightly differently, by forecasting. You can see how busy your bus is and you can decide whether to travel or to wait for the next bus instead.

The online tool, accessed via the maps, gives each bus a rating: quiet, moderate or busy, and it does this in real time so you can make an informed choice about your journey.

Our buses will become busier as lockdown eases and more people are out and about. While we’ve increased passenger capacity to around 50% of the usual seated capacity, we must still stick to the government’s latest social distancing guidelines. You may also prefer to travel when it's quieter.

To check your bus, find your stop on our map, click on it, select ‘track buses' and then click on a bus, or check out our easy-to-use guide here on how to get started.
