Leadership Update: Ed Wills to move to Go South Coast, Rupert Cox joins as Interim MD
We are preparing for a leadership transition as Managing Director Ed Wills moves to sister company Go South Coast at the end of 2025.
Ed has led the business since 2021, driving growth and innovation across Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, and Surrey. Under his leadership, the network expanded, coach services grew, and the company became a national leader in accessibility.
Reflecting on his time here, Ed said: “It has been a privilege to lead Brighton & Hove Buses, Metrobus and Spirit of Sussex. Our success has always been rooted in the communities we serve, and I’m proud of the partnerships we’ve built and the improvements we’ve delivered together. I am most proud of the teams I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside - from our drivers to our engineers and office colleagues. I know the company will continue to thrive under new leadership.”
Ed will take up his new role as Managing Director at Go South Coast on 1 January 2026.
To ensure continuity, Rupert Cox will join as Interim Managing Director from the same date. Rupert brings over 20 years of industry experience, currently serving as Commercial Director for Bus at Go-Ahead. He previously led Go-Ahead’s East Anglia business and held senior roles at Stagecoach.
Rupert said: “I’m delighted to join Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus as Interim Managing Director. This is a business with a strong reputation for putting people first, whether that’s our customers or our team. I look forward to working with the talented people across our networks and continuing to deliver reliable, accessible, and sustainable transport for the communities we serve.”
The search for a permanent Managing Director is now underway.
