This September, the Catch the Bus Month initiative led by Bus Users UK returns with the aim to get everyone onboard and champion accessible travel.

The Brighton & Hove Buses team want to hear from you, so come along and share your views on bus travel and accessibility during our event at Churchill Square on Tuesday 27th August from 1:30pm – 3:00pm.

Our team will be joined at Churchill Square by representatives from Bus Users UK.

Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK and Disability and Access Ambassador for the Disability Unit said:

“We're delighted to be launching our campaign this year with people who really understand the need for bus travel to be as accessible as possible in order to let everyone get on with living their best lives without additional barriers. Come and say hello and tell us what the bus means to you!”

In addition to the Brighton & Hove Buses team and Bus Users UK, members of Brighton & Hove City Council’s Transport and Concessionary Travel team, Possability People, Disability Rights UK and Sight Loss Councils of Thomas Pocklington Trust and bus operators Stagecoach, Compass and Big Lemon will all be in attendance and keen to hear feedback and answer questions.

There will also be the opportunity to test the accessible on-bus facilities of a double decker bus, pick up timetables and other useful bus and accessibility information.

Ed Wills, Managing Director for Brighton & Hove Buses said,

“We’re delighted to be hosting an event in Brighton next week and are really keen to chat with our local residents about bus travel. Catch the Bus Month 2024 focuses on accessibility and highlights the benefit buses have on people’s lives. We are proud that Brighton & Hove Buses has been awarded leader status for the ITS (Inclusive Transport Strategy) from the Department for Transport and have a key focus on making our buses accessible for everyone.”

We look forward to meeting you at Churchill Square on Tuesday, ahead of Catch the Bus month 2024.
