Hunt for hand sanitiser ends at gin distillery

In recent months, our Conway Street Stores Manager Steve Trewin has had to get creative sourcing PPE for our colleagues, with hand sanitiser being particularly difficult to track down.

After exhausting all of our usual suppliers, Steve found an unlikely source of hand sanitiser for our drivers and other frontline colleagues: a local gin distillery.

Seaford gin distillery Murray & Yeatman began to supply medical grade sanitiser to vital service providers and businesses a few weeks ago, including bus companies.

We bought 150 litres of the stuff, which is 80% alcohol.

As well as finding novel sources of hand sanitiser, Steve has secured smaller, empty bottles so drivers can decant their own supplies from the 10 litre tubs of sanitiser in each depot.

He found 100 refill bottles normally used for bike chain oil, which still work as dispensers.

Steve said: “It is worth hunting high and low to make sure our drivers and our other colleagues feel safe. Everyone is in the same boat so you have got to think outside the box a bit.”
