New bus services and bus routes for summer 2019

5 months ago Thu 18th Apr 2019

You can catch the bus straight to Drusillas, Charleston Farm House, Middle Farm and other popular spots on our new 11X service between Brighton and Eastbourne, starting tomorrow (Good Friday).

The service, which was suggested by one of our bus drivers, also provides direct links to Firle Bostal, Polegate and Eastbourne General Hospital and runs on Sundays and public holidays until Sunday 15 September.

There are other exciting additions to our summer timetable too, which goes live on 28 April.

East Brighton gets a new flexible night bus linking Whitehawk to the city centre, running on Monday through to Saturday nights/Sunday morning.

Our N21 Community Spirit minibus will run hourly from 1.05am to 3.05am from Brighton Station, travelling to Whitehawk bus garage via Queens Park. The driver will also stop at Swanborough Drive, Bristol Estate and other Whitehawk stops, at the request of passengers on board.

There’s no need to pre-book. You can use cash, contactless or your normal NetworkSaver ticket. The first bus is on Monday 29 April and it will run year-round.

More great news for Whitehawk residents is the introduction of a new £4.40 city centre return fare using cash or contactless.

Other exciting changes for the summer include extra morning journeys on route 13X from Newhaven to Brighton and extra evening journeys from Brighton to Newhaven, on Sundays and public holidays between 16 June and 15 September.

Students haven’t been forgotten either. We’ve been working with Sussex University’s Student Union and listened to their concerns and we’ve added a bendy bus on university route 25 during peak morning time. We’ve also made changes to the timetables on routes 23, 50, and 50U so buses coincide better with university lecture times.

Our Managing Director Martin Harris said: “We’re delighted to announce these new routes, bus services and extra journeys, in time for summer to help people make the most of the warmer weather. Many of these changes are in response to feedback from our customers and our drivers. There’s never been a better time to get on and go somewhere!”
