Lewes Road, Brighton - Road Closure

28th - 31st Jan 2022

From 22:00 on Friday 28 January until 05:00 on Monday 31 January, Lewes Road in Brighton is closed whilst a footbridge is installed over the road at Brighton University. During this time, services will be diverted.

Please be aware that in the event of severe weather preventing the works from taking place, services could revert to the normal schedule at short notice.


SERVICE 23


TOWARDS UNIVERSITIES

- after serving the Queens Park Junction bus stop, buses will turn right and divert via Elm Grove, Warren Road and Falmer Road, resuming normal route from the North South Road bus stop on Sussex University campus. The Sussex House bus stop will not be served.


TOWARDS BRIGHTON MARINA

- after serving the Falmer Village bus stop, buses will divert via Falmer Road, Warren Road and Elm Grove. They will turn left on to Queen’s Park Road, resuming normal route from the Queen’s Park Junction bus stop.

SERVICE 24


TOWARDS ASDA HOLLINGBURY

- after serving the Sainsburys Lewes Road bus stop, buses will divert (non-stop) via Hollingdean Road, Ditchling Road and Coldean Lane. They will then turn right on to Forest Road to resume normal route through Coldean from the Forest Road bus stop.


TOWARDS OLD STEINE / CHURCHILL SQUARE

- buses will operate the normal route from Asda through Coldean. From Forest Road, they will turn left and divert (non-stop) via Coldean Lane, Ditchling Road and Hollingdean Road, resuming normal route from the Melbourne Street bus stop.


Most services will terminate at Old Steine.

TOWARDS UNIVERSITIES

- after serving the Sainsburys Lewes Road bus stop, buses will divert (non-stop) via Hollingdean Road, Ditchling Road and Coldean Lane. They will serve the last stop at the bottom of Coldean Lane and then turn left on to Lewes Road, resuming normal route from the Brighton Academy (BACA) bus stop.


TOWARDS OLD STEINE

- buses will serve the stop at the bottom of Coldean Lane (located on Coldean Lane) and then divert (non-stop) via Coldean Lane, Ditchling Road and Hollingdean Road, resuming normal route from the Melbourne Street bus stop.


All 25 services will be double deck vehicles.

TOWARDS LEWES / UCKFIELD / TUNBRIDGE WELLS

- after serving the Sainsburys Lewes Road bus stop, buses will divert (non-stop) via Hollingdean Road, Ditchling Road and Coldean Lane. They will serve the last stop at the bottom of Coldean Lane and then turn left on to Lewes Road, resuming normal route from the Brighton Academy (28) / Falmer Station (29) bus stop.


TOWARDS OLD STEINE

- buses will serve the stop at the bottom of Coldean Lane (located on Coldean Lane) and then divert (non-stop) via Coldean Lane, Ditchling Road and Hollingdean Road, resuming normal route from the Melbourne Street bus stop.


All 28 and 29 services will terminate and restart from Old Steine.

SERVICES 48 and 49


TOWARDS BEVENDEAN / MOULSECOOMB

- after serving the Sainsburys Lewes Road bus stop, buses will divert via Hollingdean Road, Ditchling Road and Coldean Lane. They will then turn right on to Lewes Road, observe a temporary stop by the bottom of The Avenue (located on Lewes Road, at The Highway slip road) and resume normal route in Bevendean / Moulsecoomb.


TOWARDS CHURCHILL SQUARE / PORTSLADE

- after serving the Bottom of The Avenue bus stop, buses will turn right and divert via Lewes Road, Coldean Lane, Ditchling Road and Hollingdean Road, resuming normal route from the Melbourne Street bus stop.


All services 48 and 49 will serve the bus stops on Lewes Road between The Avenue and Coldean Lane in both directions. Passengers are advised to wait at the northbound stops to get into town.

TOWARDS STANMER PARK

- after serving the Sainsburys Lewes Road bus stop, buses will divert (non-stop) via Hollingdean Road, Ditchling Road and Coldean Lane. They will serve the last stop at the bottom of Coldean Lane and then turn left on to Lewes Road, resuming normal route from the Brighton Academy (BACA) bus stop.


TOWARDS BRIGHTON STATION

- buses will serve the stop at the bottom of Coldean Lane (located on Coldean Lane) and then divert (non-stop) via Coldean Lane, Ditchling Road and Hollingdean Road, resuming normal route from the Melbourne Street bus stop.

- after serving the Sainsburys Lewes Road bus stop, buses will divert (non-stop) via Hollingdean Road and Ditchling Road. At the top of Ditchling Road, they will turn left to serve the Old Boat Corner and Asda Roundabout bus stops before travelling down Coldean Lane, resuming normal route from the Varley Halls bus stop.
