Remembrance Sunday Parades

On Sunday 14 November, the annual Remembrance Sunday parades take place with various diversions in place across our network.
We are giving free travel to veterans and serving members of the armed forces on this day. Anyone wearing their military service medals or carrying a military ID card can travel free all day on our buses.

BRIGHTON (CITY CENTRE)
Between 09:00 and 10:00, Old Steine (stop H) is closed whilst the Salute Stand is put into place. During this time, services will operate via the south-west corner of Old Steine and serve Old Steine (stop U).
Between 10:00 and 12:00, North Street, Old Steine and Madeira Drive are closed, and the following diversions will be in place:
Routes 5 / 5A / 5B (southbound)
- after serving London Road Shops (stop S), services will divert via Cheapside, Fleet Street, New England Street, New England Road (to Seven Dials), Terminus Road and Queens Road, resuming normal route from Churchill Square.
Routes 21A / 46 / 49 (southbound)
- after serving North Road, services will divert via Edward Street, Upper Rock Gardens, Lower Rock Gardens, A259 Marine Parade (past the Sealife Centre) and West Street, resuming normal route from Churchill Square.
Routes 21 / 22 / 28 / 29 / 48 / 50 / 78 / 79 (southbound)
- after serving North Road, services will divert via Edward Street, Upper Bedford Street, Upper St James's Street, Upper Rock Gardens and then left on to Edward Street where buses will terminate / take layover in the westbound bus lane. Passengers can board and alight the bus in the westbound Edward Street bus lane.
Route 77
- after serving Clock Tower (stop N), services will continue straight down west street, resuming normal route from the Brighton Centre bus stop.
Eastbound services
- from Churchill Square and Brighton Station will operate via Queen's Road and North Road, observing the bus stop at the bottom of North Road.
- buses that then head north towards London Road and Lewes Road will turn left on to the bus lane to resume normal route.
- buses that continue east will turn right on to Grand Parade, then left on to Edward Street to resume normal route from Park Street. Coastal services from Edward Street will then divert via Upper Rock Gardens and Lower Rock Gardens, resuming normal route from Bedford Street.
Westbound services
- from Eastern Road will divert via Upper Rock Gardens, Lower Rock Gardens, A259 Marine Parade (past the Sealife Centre) and West Street, resuming normal route from Churchill Square / Clock Tower (stop L).
- Coastal services from Sea Life Centre (stop L) will continue west along A259 Marine Parade and turn right on to West Street, resuming normal route from Clock Tower (stop L).

SOUTHWICK
The Green and Southwick Square is closed between 10:30 and 11:45. Service 46 will terminate and restart from the Rectory Road bus stop during this time.

ROTTINGDEAN
Rottingdean High Street is closed from 11:30 until 13:00. Buses will operate via Ovingdean in both directions during this time.

PEACEHAVEN
The parade will go along Sutton Avenue to the Meridian Centre between 10:30 and 11:00. Minor delays can be expected.

NEWHAVEN
The parade will go along the western end of Newhaven South Way at some point between 10:35 and 10:55. Slight delays can be expected to westbound services.

SEAFORD
The A259 will be closed between Avondale Road and Broad Street from 10:00 until 11:40. Buses will divert between bus stops Seaford Station and Chyngton Gardens via Dane Road, Pelham Road, Steyne Road and Sutton Avenue in both directions.
Service 12A will also serve the Chyngton Estate via Eastbourne Road, Alfriston Road, Walmer Road and Chyngton Gardens in both directions.

EASTBOURNE
Between 10:00 and 13:00, Terminus Road, Cornfield Road and Devonshire Place is closed.
Services towards Eastbourne will divert from Eastbourne Station via Ashford Road (dropping off passengers if required), Cavendish Place, Seaside Road, Marine Parade Road and Marine Parade to Eastbourne Pier.
Services towards Brighton from Eastbourne Pier will continue along Grand Parade (seafront) and then divert via Lascelles Terrace, Chiswick Place, Blackwater Road, Spencer Road and South Street, resuming normal route from Gildredge Road (stop G1).

LEWES
Lewes town centre is closed from 14:00 until 16:00. During this time, all 28 and 29 services will operate via the A27 and Cuilfail Tunnel in both directions, picking up and setting down at the lay-by at Tesco roundabout.

RINGMER
Traffic will be held on the main Lewes Road for approximately 5 minutes during the procession at about 10:30, and then again after the church service at 12:30.

UCKFIELD
The parade will be in the High Street at some point between 14:00 and 15:00, and again between 16:00 and 16:45. We may therefore experience slight delays.

TUNBRIDGE WELLS
Between 10:00 and 12:30, services will terminate and restart from Central Station (stop B) - passengers travelling towards Brighton will need to cross over to Central Station (stop B). After leaving the station, services will turn left on to Church Road and left again on to A26 London Road, resuming normal route from the Chapel Place bus stop.
** Brighton-bound services will depart Central Station (stop B) 3 minutes before the scheduled departure times shown at Central Station (stop T) during this time. **
