Heron's Ghyll - Road Closure

24th - 26th Jul 2025

Due to a road closure at Heron's Ghyll, we will be diverting in both directions between 19:00 and 06:00 daily on the nights of 24th July - 26th July.

Services towards Tunbridge Wells will serve the Pig & Butcher, then turn Left onto the A26, Right at the roundabout through Maresfield, turn Right onto the B2026, continue on the B2026 before turning Right into New Road, then Left back into the A26 onto normal route.

This diversion is the same route both directions

We will be unable to serve the following stops:

The London To Brighton Bike Ride takes place on 14th September.

There will be changes to many of our routes and passengers are advised to check our timetables and leave extra time for your journey today.

Planned changes to the schedules are between 06:00-18:00 (Unless otherwise advised)

During this time there will be no Southbound Traffic along Lewes Road (Towards Brighton)

Route 12 & 12A
Towards Brighton - No change
Towards Eastbourne - Buses will leave from Brighton Station as normal and serve North Street however buses will be diverting via Edward Street & the Rock Gardens (06:00-18:00) (Unable to serve the Sealife Centre and New Steine)

Route 13X
Towards Brighton - No change
Towards Eastbourne - Buses will leave from Brighton Station as normal and serve North Street however buses will be diverting via Edward Street & the Rock Gardens (09:00-18:00) (Unable to serve the Sealife Centre and New Steine)

Routes 14 &14B
Towards Brighton - No change
Towards Eastbourne - Buses will leave from Brighton Station as normal and serve North Street however buses will be diverting via Edward Street & the Rock Gardens (08:00-18:00) (Unable to serve the Sealife Centre and New Steine)

Route 22
Buses will terminate and restart from the Old Steine between 09:30 & 18:00

Route 23
Buses towards Sussex University no change.
Buses towards Brighton Marina will return via Falmer Road and the Drove to Queens Park Junction where buses will resume normal route between 09:00 & 18:30

Route 24
This route will not run all day until buses will resume from Asda 19:25 & Churchill Square 19:08

Route 26 Buses will terminate and restart from the Old Steine between 09:00 & 18:00

Route 25
Between 08:58 & 18:30 buses to Sussex University will go via London Road Union Road & Lewes Road Northbound.
Buses from Sussex University towards Brighton between 09:00 &18:48 will divert from Falmer Station onto the A27, Carden Avenue, Braybon Avenue, Surrenden Road, Preston Drove, Beaconsfield Villas, Beaconsfield Road into London Road (5B Route Non-Stop apart from Carden Hill) also Serving London Road Shops.
The Level Bus Stop will not be served during this time.

Route 27
Towards Brighton - No change
Towards Saltdean - Buses will divert via St James’ Street & Rock Gardens (07:00-18:00)

Route 28-29-29A
Towards Brighton (Inbound) from Falmer Station will divert via the A27, Carden Avenue, Braybon Avenue, Surrenden Road, Preston Drove, Beaconsfield Villas, Beaconsfield Road into London Road (5B Route Non-Stop) to St Peters Church & terminating at Old Steine between 10:00 & 1800.
Towards Lewes and Tunbridge Wells, buses will be starting at the Old Steine between 09:30 & 18:00 will divert northbound via London Road and Union Road ( Non Stop) where normal route will resume at Lewes Road Garage Route

Hollingbury Buses will operate from Hollingbury to Old Steine only between 09:30 & 18:00 Normal route applies before and after these times
Southwick Buses will operate between Southwick Square and Churchill square only between 09:30 & 17:45 Buses will run from Southwick to Churchill Square Via Montpelier Road & Upper North Street terminating at Imperial Arcade.
Normal routes apply before and after these times

Route 48
Full route suspended between 08:30-18:20 There will be a shuttle bus in operation running the 48 and 49 routes in Bevendean which will drop passengers at a temporary stop opposite Hillside.
Passengers should cross the Lewes Road to the stop opposite the Avenue where passengers can catch the diverted 25 route into Brighton. (The 25 will be on a diversion heading Northbound to get in to Brighton)
There will also be a temporary stop in place between Hillside and The Avenue Steps stop for passengers needing the shuttle service in towards Bevendean.

Route 49
Full Route suspended 08:30-18:25
There will be a shuttle bus in operation running the 48 and 49 routes in Bevendean which will drop passengers at a temporary stop opposite Hillside.
Passengers should cross the Lewes Road to the stop opposite the Avenue where passengers can catch the diverted 25 route into Brighton. (The 25 will be on a diversion heading Northbound to get in to Brighton)
There will also be a temporary stop in place between Hillside and The Avenue Steps stop for passengers needing the shuttle service in towards Bevendean.
Buses between Churchill Square & Portslade only between 08:30 & 18:30.
Buses from Portslade to Churchill Square will divert Via Montpelier Road & Upper North Street terminating at Imperial Arcade.

Route 50
Buses will terminate and start at Old Steine between 09:30 & 18:00

Route 77
Buses to Devils Dyke will start from Churchill Square
Buses from Devils Dyke will terminate at Imperial Arcade.
The 13:30, 14:15, 18:00 & 18:45 trips from Devils Dyke will terminate at Old Steine Stop D.

Route 78
Updated timetable all day, buses from Stanmer Park will go via the A27 to Carden Hil -5B route non-stop to London Road.

Route 79 will not run today Between 09:00 & 18:30 all passengers on Lewes Road need to catch the Northbound route 25 to get into town. Route 25 will serve London Road in both directions for passengers wishing to travel to or from Lewes Road during this time.

All Eastbound Coast Road buses will use St James’ Street or Eastern Road between 06:00 & 1800.
Westbound Coast Road buses are normal Route Coldean Lane re-opens at 19:00
