Bus and train combo tickets

If you are planning on travelling by train as well as by bus, then you may find that purchasing a Plusbus supplement to your train ticket will save you money compared to purchasing your tickets separately. Below are some ideas around how you could make it easier and cheaper to travel.

Plusbus is a supplement you can add to a train ticket that includes all local bus travel throughout the Brighton & Hove area, and can be purchased from any station. Plusbus tickets are ideal for commuters with season tickets wanting to include bus travel, or for anyone visiting an area on our network for the day. It enables you to travel on any Brighton & Hove bus for the day within the relevant station zone. Commuters can add the Plusbus facility to their rail season ticket too, and when buying rail tickets online from most train company websites. Further details on ticket validity can be found on the Plusbus website.

Weekly, Monthly and Annual Plusbus is available on the Southern key smart-card in the Brighton area. For more information, please see their website above.

keyGo is a product which can be added to a Southern Railway Key Smartcard and used for Pay As You Go journeys on most Southern, Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Great Northern train services.

It can also be used to pay for bus journeys operated by Brighton & Hove Buses or Metrobus which are wholly in the keyGo bus zones listed below. keyGo cannot be used for journeys which start or finish outside of a keyGo bus zone, or for journeys between two different zones. To find out more about using keyGo on train services, or to register for keyGo, please head to the Southern Rail website here.

keyGo Bus Prices

Each journey is charged at the single fare rate shown in the below table, but you will not pay more than the day cap price for the zone if you make two or more journeys. If you have also made a train journey using keyGo which started or finished in the same zone, you will not pay more than the day Plusbus price for the zone.

Please remember that you cannot use keyGo to make journeys which start or finish outside of the zones listed above or to make journeys between two different zones. You can however use keyGo to make bus journeys within two or more zones, and in this case bus travel using keyGo will not exceed £7.50 per day (£4.10 per day for children).
