1X named ‘Best Bus Service’ at National Transport Awards

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that our 1X express service has been recognised as ‘Best Bus Service’ at the 2025 National Transport Awards.

Launched in July 2024, the 1X express route supplements our busy 1 service, offering a faster, limited-stop service across Brighton & Hove. Easily spotted around our city by its striking fuchsia branding, the 1X carried over 1.1 million customers in its first nine months and has garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback since its launch. Its success has demonstrated how listening to customer demand can reshape networks and attract people out of cars. 

The annual National Transport Awards applaud the innovation and commitment of those working to improve transport networks across the country. This year’s event – which took place on Thursday 2nd October – was hosted by Jeremy Vine and included a keynote speech by Lilian Greenwood MP. 

We were also delighted to be shortlisted in three further categories on the night: Bus Operator of the Year; Net Zero and Woman of the Year (Head of Marketing & Communications, Vicky Doyle).
