Today

Brighton & Hove Buses is proud to announce that once again they will be supporting the Royal British Legion (RBL) in the community by providing free travel to Poppy Collectors and Volunteers for five weeks, as well as decorating the front of 50 buses with large Poppy stickers, designed by the RBL.
The Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal launches on Thursday 22nd October and will shine a light on Armed Forces families, recognising the unique challenges and sacrifices they make in support of their loved ones who serve.
For Remembrance Sunday (8th November) and Armistice Day (11th November) Brighton & Hove Buses will also provide free travel to all veterans wearing their service medals and to serving members of the Armed Forces carrying their military ID cards.
Poppies will begin to appear on buses in the next couple of weeks. Members of the public can use the Brighton & Hove Buses fleet list to discover and follow the Poppy Buses. Find the full list of 2026 Poppy Buses here.
Nick Hill, Commercial Director at Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus, said: “The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal is a lifeline for thousands of serving and ex-serving personnel and their families, so we are proud to be supporting their great work by providing free travel to Poppy Collectors, veterans and to serving personnel of our armed forces.”
Andy Brown, the Poppy Appeal Manager for East Sussex, said: “We are hugely grateful once again for the support shown by Brighton & Hove Buses and Metrobus to the Armed Forces community. And every donation helps us support those who serve and their families, whatever the need, whenever it’s needed. The offer of free travel to our amazing volunteers and veterans over the Poppy Appeal period and Remembrance is an amazing gesture and show of support, the impact of which should never be underestimated”.
From 19th October until 25th November any RBL poppy collector volunteers can travel for free.
On Sunday 8th and Wednesday 11th November, anyone wearing their own military service medals and/or carrying their military ID card can travel for free.
