Come and celebrate the launch of our electric buses
4 months ago

We're inviting the local community to celebrate the launch of electric buses arriving in the city with an exciting free event in an iconic local setting.
The Electric Bus Launch Event is open to all ages and will take place on Monday 13th April 2026 at 2:30pm at Royal Pavilion Gardens.
Our public celebration will mark a major milestone in the city of Brighton and Hove's journey towards cleaner, greener transport.
From April 2026, 16 brand-new zero-emission electric buses will be joining our fleet as part of a £10.5 million investment in partnership with Brighton and Hove City Council: £2.9 million was secured via the Department for Transport's ZEBRA 2 fund, with £7 million invested by Brighton & Hove Buses and £600K by Brighton & Hove City Council.
By listening to and learning from the lived experiences of our passengers, we’ve worked collaboratively with disabled people, representative organisations, and our bus manufacturers to co‑design the new electric bus interiors. So, these buses are not only better for the environment, but they also deliver a more accessible (and dementia‑friendly) service for our local community. This includes improved layouts, clearer information and more space for mobility aids, buggies, and wheelchair users.
City locals are invited to see the launch of one of the new electric buses, with photo opportunities and the chance to hop inside and look around the brand-new vehicle.
Event goers can also enjoy family-friendly entertainment and pick up bus service information, timetables and exclusive electric themed merchandise. There will also be a film showing on the electric bus screen promoting the arrival of the electric fleet to the city.
Rupert Cox, Interim Manager Director at Brighton & Hove Buses said:
We’re thrilled to celebrate the launch of our brand-new electric buses in Brighton & Hove. As part of our ongoing partnership working with Brighton & Hove City Council and our commitment towards achieving net-zero and cleaner air for our community, this is a huge step for our city.
Councillor Trevor Muten, Cabinet member for Transport and City Infrastructure, added:
This is going to be a great event. I’m really looking forward to seeing the new bus outside one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. 16 new fully electric double decker buses demonstrates the huge investment being made into clean and sustainable travel in Brighton & Hove. Working in partnership with Brighton & Hove Buses, our successful bid for ZEBRA2 funding will benefit everyone in the city.
There's no need to RSVP to our electric bus launch event, just come along and discover 'Watts new?'.
