Live & Breathe campaign launches
We’ll soon be announcing a design competition for local schools around the theme of climate change as part of our Live & Breathe campaign. Live & Breathe aims to capture the true heart of Brighton & Hove and at the same time help to tackle climate change.
Under the umbrella of Live & Breathe, we’ve collaborated with Brighton & Hove young writers’ project Little Green Pig to feature poems from 20 children on the two TV screens in our new buses.
These initiatives coincide with last week’s environmental bus tour on one of our 30 new extended-range electric buses when were joined by 60 people, despite inclement weather.
Our MD Martin Harris was joined by Dan Hyden, Principal Engineer at Alexander Dennis Ltd and Andy Ashby from BaE Systems to talk about the new buses and answer questions.
Guests visited Dorothy Stringer School’s Eco School project and Moulsecoomb Forest Garden, as well as going through the city’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone, where the buses operate in zero-emissions mode on route 5.
The buses are fully electric – an electric motor drives the bus at all times – and they also use a small on-board Euro 6 generator for recharging the buses’ batteries, when needed, fuelled additionally by regenerative braking. The buses will be rolled out by the end of October.
Check out the great places in the Live & Breathe photos on the sides of our buses as places to visit.
